Edward Robinson Obituary

Edward G Robinson, 86, beloved father of five, grandfather to twelve, and great grandfather to one, died at his home in Atlanta on Wednesday, August 15th. Born on October 3, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of Kathryn R Robinson (nee Stoneback) and Edward L Robinson. He attended Willoughby Union HS where his musical talent blossomed. Edward found himself seated next to his future wife, Pauline M Robinson, in the tenth grade. After starting college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, he joined the Air Force and served in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Nearing the end of his tour of duty, he reunited with Pauline and they married in June 1954. While working full-time with three young children, he finished college at Cleveland State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Degree in 1960. As a logistics expert for Container Corporation of America and Robert Bosch USA, he moved his family from Ohio to Illinois in 1965, and then to Atlanta in 1969. Active many years at First Christian Church of Decatur and later at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta, Ed was an enthusiastic participant in church life, both in leadership positions and as a member of the choir. He was also an avid runner and tennis player well into his 60's.

Following wife Pauline's death in 2010 Ed married Anne Schleicher Prince whose love and support followed him upon entering assisted living to meet the needs of his Alzheimer disease. He gained two stepdaughters and their lovely families.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents Kathryn and Edward Robinson, and his wife Pauline Robinson, and is survived by sisters Kathryn Gambatese (Mike) and Joyce Dirrman (Richard, deceased), half-brother Dr Perry W Robinson, daughters Beth Witkowski (John) and Julie Thomas (Scott), three sons Jeff Robinson, Mark Robinson, and Tim Robinson (Tenley), twelve grandchildren: Joshua, Charles, and Lydia Witkowski (Beth), Elijah, Leah, Josiah, Hannah, and Isaiah Thomas (Julie), Madelyn and Jessica Robinson (Mark), Alexis and Gibbs Robinson (Tim), and one great granddaughter Addison (Charles). His memory will also be cherished by nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta on August 26, 2018, at 2pm.

It's been a year since my beloved Brother, Edward, passed and my grief is ever present. I miss (so very much) his daily phone conversations with me...his Cleveland Family joins me in this remembrance of one of the most decent individuals God ever graced this good Earth with. My only comfort is that he is with his lovely wife (Pauline), his Mother (Kathryn), Father (Edward L.) and other precious members of all the families so dear to him; that he is remembered, I am certain, by all who cared for and about him.

What fun it was to have that happy smile and cute little dance step every time we met at the end of our driveways. Listening to him belt out Calgonia on the piano, or tell how he and Dietzel fought it out on the tennis court was always designed to make us delighted to have him as our friend. Have fun with Pauline. Look forward to seeing you again.

I could write a book about my Brother Ed, however, I will spare you who care to simply know that he was the consummate Brother in that he loved, counseled, encouraged and every other verb that would describe the most decent, honest individual I've ever known. Every Sister should be as lucky as I to have had that privilege! The world was a better place for Ed's having lived in it. I will miss him so very much but rely on my Lord Jesus' promise that we will be reunited one day for eternity.
