Edward Wasson Obituary

WASSON, Jr., Edward

Edward Hornsby Wasson Jr., was born in Jackson, MS, on August 8,1937, to Regina Donnelly Wasson and Edward Hornsby Wasson Sr. Because his father was with the Bell Telephone System, the family moved several times during Ed's childhood. When his family was in Atlanta, he attended E. Rivers. He graduated from McCallie School in Chattanooga, where he was the Regimental Major. He then graduated from Yale University, where he was a member of the championship Varsity crew. After Yale, he graduated from Harvard Law School and came to Atlanta to practice law. He became a lawyer recognized as a specialist in construction law and was a founding partner of the law firm Wasson, Sours and Harris.

Ed died, surrounded by his family, January 6, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Storey Wasson; his daughter, Kimberly Crater (Michael) and her children, Frank, Emma and Nick; his daughter, Hayley Wasson and her children, Kaitlin Hall (Aaron), Nathan McClintock (Jessica); and four beautiful great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Louellen Hall; a stepdaughter, Winifred Abernathy; a stepson, Andrew Abernathy, lV; and stepgrandsons, Andrew Abernathy V and Storey Abernathy.

Ed will be remembered by his friends and family for his caring nature, his precision of thought and his good sense of humor. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on January 27, 2025, at All Saints' Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church or the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
