Family-Placed Death Notice
DETTMAN, Elsa Elsa Dettman, age 101, of Atlanta, died peacefully in her sleep on January 30, 2008 at Golden Living Center, Briarwood. Elsa Mueller was born in Breman, Germany on March 16, 1906. She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1926 where she met her husband, Gustave Dettmann at a German dance. They married in 1928 and had two children, Margaret and Paul. After retirement they kept busy with their apple orchard before moving to Vero Beach, Florida. Elsa moved to Atlanta and Florida in 2000 to live closer to her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Egger of Atlanta, son, Paul Dettman of Waterford, Wisconsin, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Those who knew her admired her keen intelligence, her independence, strength and determination, her love of family and for travel, her interest in learning and love of books and her abiding interest in world affairs and politics.
