Frances DRUMMOND Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

DRUMMOND, Frances Frances Aikens Drummond, 83, of Covington, Georgia, passed away November 9, 2012, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. Born February 26, 1929, in Pike County, Georgia, Frances was the oldest daughter of William Curtis Aikens and Louise Vaughn Aikens. Frances was married for 62 years to the late Troy Weyman Drummond, Sr., and raised two children, Wayne Drummond, and Louise Drummond Harwell, while living on Stonybrook Drive in East Atlanta. In 1972, Troy and Frances moved to their cabin in the Parker's Neck region of Lake Jackson, in southern Newton County. An aficionado of crossword puzzles, Frances was a voracious reader. Preceded in death by her late husband, Frances is survived by her son, his wife Nancy Fletcher, her daughter and husband Nat Harwell, two sisters, Jane Aikens of Covington, Georgia, and Betty Jean Aikens Thomas of Riverview, Florida. Additionally, she has five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, three nephews and three grand-nephews. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of J. C. Harwell Funeral Home in Covington. The family will receive friends from 1 pm-3pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to Bicycles for Humanity-Athens/Atlanta, P. O. Box 501381, Atlanta, GA 31150 or www. b4hgeorgia.org A. S. I've fond memories of Frances having worked with her in the State Department of Family and Children Services and the Department of Human Resources. She was a role model and I was always so impressed at how she always scurried around with so much energy. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to all of her family.

I remember Frances fondly from working as a student intern with DOC and from my Mama's career with DOC. Frances was very generous and loving and taught me alot when I was young and just out of high school and beginning college. May God hold all of you in his loving arms. She is with my Mama now who went to be with Jesus on August 1st of this year. May God Bless.
