DIX, Franklin Alvin

Franklin's kind and generous heart stopped on Sunday evening, February 26, 2023, at Emory University Hospital. Known as "Butch", Franklin Alvin Dix was the first son to Frank and Mildred Myrick Dix, at Fort McPherson Hospital, on March 21, 1948.

Franklin was employed by Sun Trust Bank in the Operations Department and retired after 25 years of service. He was a gentle man who loved without judgement and maintained a deep connection with friends and family. He will be remembered for his compassion and peaceful temperament.

Franklin was a fiercely proud Atlanta Native who knew his city and loved it unconditionally. Although he had traveled to France, Germany, New York, and Alaska, Atlanta was his home, and it is where he stayed.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Nathan Myrick. Franklin is survived his lifetime partner of 50 years, Robert Louis (Bob) McCleary, Jr.; sister, Victoria Lynn Avery (Rudolph); brother, Roland Tyrone Dix (Janine); nephews, Randolph Tyrone Avery (Angel) and Ricky Jerome Avery; nieces, Nia Jade, Nola Jewel, and Nyla Janine Dix, Cheryl Myrick Thompson, Monica Myrick Jenkins, Jill Myrick Todmann, and Erica Myrick-Thompson; and countless other relatives and close friends.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM, Services at 1:00 PM, in the Chapel, at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel, 1199 Utoy Springs Rd. SW, Atlanta, 404-349-3000 www.mbfh.com.
