Very sorry to hear of George's passing...a noted traffic operations and safety engineer and a true gentleman. I can remember seeing him driving around Gwinnett in the 80's...the only traffic engineer with blue lights on his car. A most inspiring person with a keen interest in safety.

My condolences to George's family. I will not be able to attend the service Monday due to business commitments.

I first knew George when we went to Tech in '63, having a number of classes together, and being in the marching band. He could tell the funniest stories, and regaled us with tales of Jim Cherry and the DeKalb County School System.

In the '80s, after I had married my DeKalb County-native wife, I found out my in-laws knew the Blacks quite well, having also been an Avondale High School family in the 60s.

January 22, 2015

I have many good memories of George when he worked with Gwinnett County in the '70's and '80's. He was well respected, and will be missed.
