Lurma and Jamelle:

Your beloved mother and others who followed in her footsteps changed America, especially its southern region, when this nation was unwilling to accommodate itself to the mandates of civil discourse and common decency. Because Gloria Blackwell lived her life so splendidly and because she took to the streets and to the classrooms to deliver, without fear or equivocation, the messages etched in this nation's Founding Docmments, America did not die of a moral rot that continues to this day to threaten its soul.

May Gloria Blackwell Rackley Frayser find a place of leadership among the Heavenly flock. And may you and Jamelle and all of her other survivors find peace and joy as you celebrate her life and carry forth her sterling legacy.

To: Jamelle Rackley and to the family of our beloved Dr. Gloria Blackwell.
We were indeed so very blessed to have known Dr. Blackwell and to visit Jamelle and her on numerous occasions. Her strong, yet oh so gentle smile, warmth and dignity warmed our hearts whenever we visited. Now, Jamelle, that same, resonates within you. We will indeed miss her, but now she is in HEAVEN and lives with all of us in spirit. May GOD grant you and the family, strength and comfort in the loss of your mother.
We love you!

I am sorry to learn of Dr. Blackwell's passing. I didn't have her for a class, but throughout my coming and going to my English classes, I'd see her and she always had a very beautiful smile and I'd hear students who did have her as a professor speak very highly of her.

May her family be comforted by wonderful memories and her legacy of service and selflessness continue.
