NORTON, Gregory
Gregory Bruce Norton, 74, of Duluth, Georgia passed away December 5, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, 12:00 PM at the Duluth First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Dr. C. Kay Fuino, officiating. Mr. Norton was born at Crawford Long Hospital, the son of Bruce A. and Merle Barton Norton, both natives of Atlanta. Greg was a proud graduate of Avondale High School, Avondale Estates, GA and Georgia State University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After graduation from Georgia State, he jumped into the business world. He was successful in the oil industry but most successful as a salesman who built strong customer relationships. His talent and dedication to his customers led him to build his own business and he founded Brokers Unlimited in 1994 with Ken Freeman. The company specializes in food brokerage and remains successful to this day. After retiring and through his son's father-in-law, Ben Marcelo, a retired Army Green Beret and UPS executive, he was introduced to the joy and satisfaction of skeet and sporting clays shooting and very soon thereafter he bought his first of several shotguns and found his passion shooting sporting clays with his son and friends all over Georgia and the Southeast. Above all, Greg loved and enjoyed his family and friends who were like family. His wife Elaine, son Matt, daughter-in-law, Courtney, and grandsons, Ben and Hudson were central to his life, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. Always ready to have fun, he cultivated friendship groups to shoot sporting clays, go bowling, play poker and Tripoley, or just enjoy dining out. Travel with family and friends was a priority, going on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, the Rhine, the Caribbean, New England, and Lake Meade, and family trips to Greece, Oregon and Arizona. Greg helped to create cherished memories for the family at the cabin on Lake Martin in Alabama, particularly as the helmsman of the ski boat. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Alton and Merle Lee Barton Norton. He is survived by his wife of 52+ years, Elaine Johnson Norton of Duluth, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Bryant and Courtney Marcelo Norton of Atlanta, GA; sister, Tammi N. Harris of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Benjamin Norton, Hudson Norton both of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Yvonne J. Hardy of Birmingham, AL, Dianne J.
