I think of Irene often and drive by Boxwood Cottage frequently. She was always friendly and inviting. Visits to her home were a treat.

Irene left an indelible impact on everyone she met. She also was a tremendous force for good in all the communities she lived in. I have thought of her numerous times this past year and was honored to be invited to the incredible celebration of life event in her memory. All of us who knew Irene knew we were in the presence of a true, larger-than-life visionary. What a woman!!

Irene was a beautiful person. She loved to share stories about her travels and collections. Her unique touches on the renovation of the Gann House (which she ultimately named Boxwood Cottage), were one of a kind. I will miss our neighbor and friend.

Irene was one of a kind. Her intellect was only matched by her straightforward manner and conviction for excellence. She graciously opened up her home so that she could share her museum quality lifestyle and outrageous adventures with others. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Had the pleasure of meeting Irene when she opened up her amazing house - Boxwood Gardens or the Gann House, to benefit the Covered Bridge Historic District Such a beautiful place and what a gracious host. Thank you Irene for restoring the oldest home in Smyrna.
Sympathy to all you family. R.I.P.

Irene, Jr., was an incredible person who lived an amazing life. We were high school classmates and reconnected when she returned to atlanta in 2015. Without doubt, she was the most gifted and iconoclastic person I have ever known. Like Frank Sinatra sang, she did it HER way. She was interesting, provocative, and fun to be around. I am so glad to have known her and to claim her as a friend. I know that, like me, you will miss her presence and will cherish the memories she left you.
With my sincere sympathy,
