The principal of Westlake High School and his wife died during a weekend trip to Puerto Rico, the Fulton County school system confirmed Wednesday.

Jamar and Ann Marie Robinson drowned while swimming in the ocean near their hotel, according to a Puerto Rico news account.

Ann Marie Robinson, who also studied at FAMU, was an assistant professor at Georgia State University.

It has been over 3 years now, and my heart remains saddened by such great losses. Sometimes losses are just hard to shake, especially when God takes 2 of his most beautiful, precious flowers for His breathtakingly, immaculate garden. Beautiful memories linger on....Fall 1998 , 1999, 2000 Marching 100 Sounds of Thunder, Red Dawgs, HUBBA DOC!!!!! Rest in Heaven!!!!! Mario Coneway, Smyrna GA

To know her was to love her. I was a friend of Ann Marie at Miami Edison Sr High class of 1995. I know that God is to wise to make a mistake and I know that she is looking down upon us right now. To the family I wish to offer deepest sympathy and while nothing will replace her sweet and gentle spirit that always was full of life and love know that I am praying for your strength and that God comforts you and her children as only he can.

Love,

Remembering Mr.Robinson for how he loved his students, especially the graduating class of 2020. Through the challenges of the Corona Virus Pandemic, he found an unprecedented way to make them feel special by placing their pictures on billboards in South Fulton. Like David, he was a wonderful Shepherd, who cared and provided for, protected, and guided his flock. Praying God’s comfort and strength for the family.

May God continue to bless this family in love and strength. Jamar and AnnMarie’s work on earth has been Done and is truly speaking for them. Their living made a difference and will continue in the spirits of people that they inspired. May their boys heal in the loving memory of knowing they were loved. Jamar was such a good person. When he was our Drum Major for SWD Marching Panthers, he was always making us laugh & teaching us very important life lessons. He always made sure he took time out to help anyone he could. He definitely served his purpose on Earth. I didn't know his wife personally, but if Jamar loved her & gave his life I know she was also a very beautiful & impressionable person on this Earth. Everyone has the same love for her as we who knew Jamar, personally. We truly lost two beautiful Earthly angels. Thank you Jamar & Ann Marie for blessing us with your beautiful spirits, knowledge, & wisdom. It was truly an honor, blessing, & privilege.. May God bless your beautiful children & your entire family & friends. It hurts because you're gone so soon but you left us all something to hold on to & you will definitely live on through your beautiful babies. Jamar, you truly did strive for perfection as much as you could, & you truly believed in love for your fellow man. I LOVE YOU ALL!!

This is hard. Jamar, thank you for being such a great neighbor growing up. You were always focused and the quintessential leader we all needed in the community and in school to remind us all to go harder. Big brother. The role of Principal was so fitting. We were all so proud and not surprised. Your efforts did not go unnoticed. Praying for Mr. Robinson, Keith (SWD classmate/neighborhood friend), the 2 little ones and all the extended family you gained in your beautiful union with your wife Ann Marie Robinson and high school students you impacted in your tenure. You will be missed. Fly high.

My condolences to the Robinson family. Like so many others I am shocked to hear the tragic news. Ann was a wonderful friend and Co-worker. She and I, along with Jamar, were all fellow band members while in college at Florida A&M. I pray for the family, especially the boys, that God will keep you all through these extremely difficult times.

Words can not express the tremendous loss felt during the passing of Jamar Robinson. Unfortunately I did not know his beautiful wife but it is apparent from their pictures the love they had for each other. The world lost Jamar and Ann but heaven truly gained two angels. This man was the epitome of professionalism, dedication and loved his job as well as the students and the community at Westlake High School. They can hire someone for the job but you can never replace a Jamar Robinson.

Our Hearts and Prayers for the families of my Brother Principal Jamar K. Robinson and his queen Annmarie. His selflessness showed the moral fiber and commitment to servitude that made Mr. Robinson. You both will truly be missed; you complimented each other like President Barak and Michelle Obama. You made lifelong impressions on our sons, for that we will forever be grateful! Your enthusiasm and support for Westlake High School will forever be enshrined in the memories of all the lives you touched in our community!

Thank You! Thank You!
Thank You!
