Family-Placed Death Notice

BROOKS, James James Richard Brooks, 69, of Marietta, GA, husband of Marilyn M. Brooks, died Monday, May 3, 2010, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the Embracing Hospice facility in Cumming, GA. He received his undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Kansas where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He worked in the turf grass industry for 17 years and was an active member of the East Cobb United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 45 years; two brothers, Jeff Brooks of Prairie Village, KS, and Chris Brooks of Denver, CO; two sons, Steven Brooks and his wife, Kelly, of Decatur, GA, and Brian Brooks and his wife, Sarah, of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Luke Brooks and Bay Brooks. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at the East Cobb United Methodist Church, 2325 Roswell Rd., Marietta, GA, 30062, with visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East Cobb United Methodist Church: VIP's or Drama Ministry, or to the American Hospice Foundation, 2120 L St., NW, #200, Washington, D.C., 20037, (www.americanhospice.org). Arrangements by Cremation Society of the SOUTH in Marietta 770-420-5557.
