James Davis Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
DAVIS, James, Sr. James Alton "Ace" Davis, Sr., of Atlanta, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010. He was a WW II veteran and later retired from Drugs Mutual, Inc. Alton is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty J. Darby Davis; sons, James A. and Sheila Davis, Jr. of Riverdale, Robert Dale and Rose Davis of Las Vegas; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Laura Mahone and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Ward's Parkway Chapel with Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA 30030.

Pop and Mom are the most precious people I have never known. 28 years ago when I met Jim they accepted me into their family and treated me as their very own. My heart is so sad knowing that "Pop" is gone from this earth. However, I know that I will rejoice with him again in heaven. I will always be there for "Mom" as she has always been there for me. Unfortunatley I only knew Alton for a short 18 years. During this time I come to realize how close and loving of a family they are. Betty, Dale and Jim your memories of all the laughter and fond times live on.

We are saddened to hear of your loss. We've heard so many special stories of what a good man Mr. Davis was. We are neighbors of Bonnie Hunter and she spoke so many kind words of how he and Betty loved each other so. I know how your hearts must be aching. But with time the pain will surely ease and bring comfort to you to know that he is at peace and no longer in pain. I know sometimes we question why, but the Lord has his plans for an angel such as Mr. Davis. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry to hear about "Ace". I have always thought of the two of you as my other parents and while we were growing up I bet you thought the same because we were always at your house.
