Andy, It's hard to believe that you are gone. I met you back in 2009 attending Shiloh's FBLA meetings. You have a spirit that can brighten anyone's day. You are truely an Angel sent from Heaven. You smile is priceless. May God give your family strength in your physical absence. Do know that "All things work together for the good of those who loves Him and are called according to his Purpose" Romans 8:28. Peace n' Love

Andy was a gift that came in to our life with a smile. I always say to my daughter, he must be an angel to put up with you. He is and always well be my daughter's best friend and a son to me.
I would loved when he came over and just talk about anything some time nothing, but it makes me feel good just seeing him and to here that ‘Hi mom’ I never saw him without a smile on his face. Whenever he saw me, it was a smile and a hug even if she was trying to be mad at him; he will just pass her and come to me with his arms open wide. He was the kind of person you trust your daughter with and the only boy that could drive her home, he is truly an inspiration, a role model and big bother to my daughter. I know you will continue to watch over her and keep her strong and keep trying to get her to smile more!
Always with a positive attitude, he is the only friend that show up for any food related event that was going on at the house and get away with it. Even if it was just for girls ?
There is so much you could say about this angel that when by the name Andy Kershaw! Look at all the lives you have impacted, so proud of you, you did your job well sweetie and I'm so proud of you! Love you sweetie, Mom!
To the Kershaw’s family: Our lives are forever bonded and thank you for sharing him with us.

Meeting Andy for the first time in July 09 when I visited their home along with my cousin Lula E. Bell. God afforded me the opportunity to meet a very wouderful young man who was getting ready to head off to college.God had plans for Andy. He, Andy had finished his work here on earth.
Family, Andy lives in those who was touchd by his presence. God makes no mistakes.

Andy was a gift. He was my son's friend but also a son to me. When I found out that you also had relatives from Sumter. I knew we would be family. I think I still have a few of your mom's dishes!
He loved to play with my younger children. I never saw him without a smile on his face. Whenever he saw me, it was a smile and a hug. He was the kind of person you wanted your children to hang out with. Truly an inspiration. His smile and wonderful attitude will be missed. He was a role model without knowing it. The first time Damarcus saw you learning how to drive and a stickshift...boy did he start pressing me for his license. Thanks for all of the rides home. The homegoing service was perfect! Andy I hope you realized how you impacted so many lives. Watch over us and keep us strong. Love you Andy!

To the Kershaw family, we extend to you our deepest condolences during this difficult time. I recall meeting Andy in September, 2000 as he, Myles, and mom Barbara stopped by to welcome us to the neighborhood (Moorings). Our son DJ is two grades behind Andy but knew him well enough for casual conversations at the bus stop or in the hallways at school - he, like so many others, thought Andy was just a cool guy and like so many others his heart was heavy when he heard of Andy's passing. Our prayers and wishes for an abundance of peace go out to the Kershaw Family.

Andy sat beside me in U.S. Government, and he'd always radiate the best kind of energy, like a contagious happiness. There wasn't a person in that class who didn't adore his smile and whose day wasn't immediately brightened when he walked in and greeted everyone. He made friends everywhere he went, without even trying.
Those friends are the ones who already miss him an awful lot but will carry on his legacy of lighting up other lives. I'm just so lucky to have known him, and I send all the love in the world to his family.

Although I never had the opportunity to met Andy, having read the entries that were left insures me that he was a wonderful, wonderful young man. Venson, you and your wife should be very proud of the way you raised your son and although his time with you was way too short by our standards, please know that he left a mark on everyone that knew him. Remember, it's the quality not the quantity of life that matters. Andy's life was of high quality. He was very special - he loved many and was loved by many more. May God continue to bless and keep you and your family during this difficult time. Find comfort in knowing that he is in heaven and one day, we will all see him again!

My husband and I were deeply saddened to hear about Andy's sudden death. Our 29 year old daughter, Kierston, is in NJ right now after learning of the sudden death of her best friend's 18 year old brother. He collapsed suddenly last Tuesday and suffered an acute cardiac arrest. He too was headed to college on a scholarship and was a "rising star" athlete. God's heavenly team is brimming now with these fine, gifted young men!

May your entire family be wrapped in the loving, comforting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ now and forever more.

God Bless you,
Deacon Walter & Sister Denise Henderson

Barbara and Venson:
I am saddened at your loss. I hadn't seen Andy since he was small but from everything that I read he was a wonderful young man. Have peace in knowing that he is with the father and is loved by so many.

Our family was so shocked and saddened to hear about Andy's recent death. My son Ben & Andy were friends at Annistown. Andy was such a nice young man. I had the pleasure to get to know him as a room mother during his time at Annistown. He was so polite and always had a smile on his face. My husband also got to know him during a class trip. Your son made an impression on him. He commented on what a nice person he was. Your family has been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news. May God's peace and love surround you during this time.
Sincerely,
The Burger Family

I last saw my cousin, Andy, on July 26, 2009 as he and the family came through to visit us on their way home from one of their family reunions. Barbara and Venson, you spoke with such joy as you talked about how Andy would be just a short trip down the road from us in college this upcoming school year and how he seemed to have blossomed as a basketball player in what seemed like a relatively short amount of time. I could never express in words the emptiness in my heart when my sister told me of his passing. Please find strength in knowing that Andy is now on the greatest team ever--God's team and God must have really needed him a lot more than we did. This message coming from the Hail/Claxton families collectively, our most heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. As I told you during our visit, Andy is a great young man and he will undoubtedly be missed by all that were so very fortunate to have been touched by him during his time on God's Earth.

Barbara and Venson, May you renew your strength in the Lord and reflect on all the precious memories of Andy to help you through this challenging time.

I don’t know of any gift more precious than the love of two dedicated parents

Barbara and Venson—you accomplished a highly honorable goal—you created a legacy—you invested in the lives of your children—children that any parent would be proud to have.

Although Andy was with us for less than two decades, his ability to make a positive difference immensely exceeded his years and is truly a blueprint that others can follow.

I hope you find comfort in knowing that Andy will always be with you in spirit and has engraved a lasting place in your hearts as well as others.

I grew up with Andy- middle school and graduated high school. He was even in my prom group. We had a blast throughout the years and truly saw each other grow up. For me- cheerleading and for him basketball. We were very similar. We strived to be the best and be kind to many people. I miss Andy so much and to be honest when I found out at 11 pm on ... Read Morewednesday what had happened- i called him. It wasn't real i thought to myself. And when he didnt answer I called and checked around- it was true. Immidiately I was in shock- not knowing whether to cry, pray, be angry, or try to sleep off this new reality I just uncovered. But I had to pray- for strength, wisdom and guidance; i had to know why God took him away. And like Caleb, He told me the same thing. He said i endured pain; so much pain- to give you salvation- and as far as Andy, he showed me everyday through love, care, and being genuine. Class of 2009, or anyone: its time to get right. If you dont have a relationship with the Creator,
Alpha and Omega. Please I urge you to get it right. Because as God has showed and said coutless times. Our lives arent promised because they are not ours. They belong to God. We are borrowers. If there is a tug on your heart- listen to it. Its the holy spirit telling you that this message was meant for you. For Andy's sake- let his passing prepare you. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savor, Believe that Jesus is God's only son, and confess your sins to the Lord above. These simple three steps will ensure you a eternity. With Andy but most importantly the Heavenly Father who is above everything in this whole world. Think upon this tragedy and turn it into praise. For God knows the plans- plans to give you a hope and future- plans to prosper you not harm you [jeremiah 29] and although we dont know why this happened so soon- God does. And he never makes mistakes.
Take heed to my words... please.
In rememberance of Andy Kershaw, beloved son, friend and follower.

God Bless- Destinee Derline

As we are all signing this book, we are all remembering this great man. With just a smile he was able to turn the darkest night into the brightest day..He was a leader, a friend, and teammate. There are not enough words to describe the impact that you had on all of our lives. As I stand here on earth I promise to live a life that would make both you and God proud. Knowing that i ask you to save me a seat right next to you. I know that you will continue to live eternally in our hearts and in heaven. At last of I were to say goodbye that would mean that we would never see each other again, so I'm going to say see you later.

My prayers go out to all who knew Andy, and may you all smile in this time for that is what he would have liked. May God bless his and all of our souls.

I've known Andy since elementary school, and even though we didn't have classes together after 5th grade if we ever crossed paths at school he would be smiling and say "Hey"

He was definitely one of the good ones. And as I've witnessed these past few days, losing a classmate and friend is a very tragic thing, but nothing compares to losing a family member. My prayers go out to his family in this troubling time, may God bless you with peace.

Looking down from above, I know you're doing fine. As impersonal as this may seem now, I want you to know that you are my brother, that I love you, that your smile meant a great deal to not only me but several other friends, and that I know that you have eternal life waiting for you.

Let this one be a lesson to all of us to get right and possibly change our ways because this second could be our last. Love your friends because you might not see them tomorrow.

I'm going to show you up above what I can do down below while still here, so my scholastic endeavors at Harvard are also dedicated to you, my dear friend. I pray for the health and mental soundness of your family in these trying and emotionally devastating times.

God Bless everyone.

I will always treasure the times that I spent chatting with Andy! He had such a knack for cheering you up, no matter how hectic your day was. I am thrilled that I got an opportunity to visit with you when you came by on Wed., and was thrilled when I found out that you had gotten your scholarship after all. You packed a lot of living into the years you were on this earth, and your spirit will live with us forever!

Andy was a great person inside and out. We were in Longfellows together and we also went to school together. There was a time where he told me to keep my head up and do my best to do great in basketball. Those words have followed me to this day and I will use them as I continue my journey in basketball. I just want to say that Andy will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

Andy Kershaw. WOW. Sitting with you in my 7th grade math class up until senior year Trig. All I can say is wow, I am so stunned. You were one of the young seniors graduating with the Divine Class of 09 at Shiloh High. And one of the most remembered. You had so much class, potential, smarts, athleticism, and character, a GREAT example for our peers. Never went into peer pressure you always stayed focused in your tasks, and me being a few months older then you, looked up to your wonderful personality. You always SMILED! No matter what was going on I dont ever remember seeing a frown on your face. Getting that DEVISTATING text message of your passing at 1am just shut me and the community and everyone we graduated with down. My prayers go with your family and may you Rest In Peace you Angel.

Bless the family.

Andy was my bestfriend since i was 6 when me and my older bro were selling his mom some snickers. His lil bro and I would hang out because he was close to my age but as i got older me and Andy would play ball, he would always get the upper hand on me. He was in love with sports cars I knew once he got older he was gonna have a house full of them. I remember when he got his permit his brother miles, andy, and me took his mom's car and we went drivin around the neighborhood and my neighbor Mr. Sharp saw us and we got so scared, Andy's mom found out but sge never told my mom, I was so thankful. In our 10 year relationship we only had one argument and I don't even remember wat it was about. I loved Andy like a brother, and I am going to miss him greatly.

Andy was amazing . I remember him being one of the first people I met going into Shiloh (he was a year ahead of me), and thinking, gee, what a nice guy . He was ALWAYS smiling, and if he wasn`t, then neither were you . He was a genuinely kind soul, and the epitome of the old adage, "only the good die young" .

We love you and miss you, Andy .
Rest In Peace .

I cant believe what just happened. Here we are all ready to start our lives with a clean slate as college kids, make our name and place in this world. We all have dreams and and we all make mental lists of things we want to do and experience in our lives. Its heartbreaking to realize that you never got your deserved fifteen minutes of fame or were able to stand on your own feet, look back in about 30 years and realize all that you've accomplished. We werent all that close, but theres this connection we obliviously form with the people who are in the same position with us in times of difficulty as well as times of happiness. We didnt talk that much and I didnt know you that well but everytime I saw you at school you had a smile on your face. I was jealous because you were always so happy, it was like nothing could have brought you down. Where ever you went you shared your happiness, and I hoped even then to be just like you. You were so sweet and kind and if we were friends, close friends, I know that you would have always been there for me no matter what; you were just that kind of person. You didnt deserve what happened to you, and I know that if any of us had the will to turn back time and change things we would do so without hesitation. I know without doubt that you are in a better place, resting in God's arms looking down on us. My prayers are with your family, friends, and also with you. Im going to miss you, Andy, you were a good person; the best I knew.

I've known Andy since the seventh grade, he's been more than angelic to those around him. No matter what he always had a smile on his face that could brighten up any gloomy day. I will miss seeing him on a daily along with him being to last person many of us spoke to every night on Facebook. I will always remember him wearing his favorite basketball jersey on each game day. In seventh grade we nicknamed him "Twiggy" the name on the back of his Harlem Globetrotters Jersey. Always and for every will Andy "Twiggy" Kershaw be loved and missed but never forgotten. ~FORVER IN OUR HEARTS~

God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not meant to be
So he put his arms around you, and whispered come with me
With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away
Although we love you deeply, we could not make you stay
Your golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us... He only takes the best.

I didn't know him very well, but people told me he was a great guy and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed by us all.

Barbara and Venson, Andy was like a son to us. We watched him grow from childhood to an outstanding young man. We appreciate him for being such a good friend to Joshua,he was one of "The Good Guys". I know he was looking forward to playing basketball in college but Mike Grier said it best he is now on the best team ever.

God bless your family and our prayers are with you all.

If there was ever an excellent example of the growth and maturation of a boy into a fine young man, it was Andy. While I am saddened by his passing, my prayers go out to him and his entire family who had every reason to be proud.
Our communities need more young men like Andy and his brother Myles. Andy is gone, but while he was here, I hope someone was watching.
I know I was.

Rest in Peace and God Bless

I am so sad to see a great young man gone so soon. Mr. and Mrs. Kershaw you did an EXCELLENT job in raising this young man. He was always respectful, always smiling and just a joy to have in class and around Shiloh. On behalf of my family our prayers are with you.
