Jere LINK

1951 - 2018

LINK, Ph.D., Jere Hudson Dr. Link was born June 12, 1951, in Mobile, AL, and died on March 15, 2018, at his home in Atlanta after a long illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Louise Hudson Link and Henry Link and his brother Henry "Winky" Link. He is survived by a niece, cousins, and many friends. Jere's family spent some time in Baton Rouge, LA, and returned to Mobile where he entered 6th grade at Saint Mary's Parochial School. He graduated with honors from McGill Institute High School in Mobile in 1969. He attended the University of Alabama, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin and his Ph.D. in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jere was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship in his pursuit of his graduate studies. Jere loved teaching, and during his career he taught at Virginia Tech, The Westminster Schools, Pace Academy, and Kennesaw State University. He was honored as Georgia Star Teacher of the Year in 1997 and regional Star Teacher in 1993 and 2004. A memorial service for Dr. Link will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, 4 PM, at Saint Martin in the Fields, 3110 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30319.
