Family-Placed Death Notice
BOWERS, John John Lewis Bowers December 15, 1928 - January 18, 2008 Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, January 21, 2008 at Little-Davenport Funeral Home for Mr. John Lewis Bowers, 79 of Gainesville. Rev. Patricia Southerland and Rev. Leah Cunningham will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Mr. Bowers died Friday, January 18, 2008 following a brief illness. Mr. Bowers served proudly for the Georgia Army National Guard and retired after 22 years. He was a general contractor, avid hunter and enjoyed planting his tomato garden every year. He was a loyal fan of Buford High School Athletics. He also took great pleasure spending time with his beloved dogs Doolittle & Dwight. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend to all. His gift of gab, sense of humor, kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. Mr. Bowers is preceded in death by his parents: Nettie Lou and Paul Bowers: brothers, Joe and Don Bowers. Survived by devoted wife of 57 years: Barbara Garrison Bowers, sons and daughters-in-law: David and Joanne Bowers, Johns Creek, GA., Donald and Valerie Bowers, Buford, GA., grandchildren: Christy and Jay Nemec, Cumming, GA., Will Bowers, Buford, GA., great grandsons: Brett and Peyton Nemec and brother: James (Bud) Bowers, Gainesville, GA. In lieu of flowers, make donations to: Suwanee First United Methodist Church, 603 Scales Road, Suwanee, GA 30024. Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville is in charge of arrangements. John was such a special man who touched so many lives. You have many wonderful memories to share and hold close. Don will miss talking sports with him and hearing about Will. John loved him so and was so proud of him. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our family has a huge void now. Lewis was such a special part of my life. He always had a special hug and kiss for his Paige. He spoiled me rotten for my entire life. I will miss our sharing a cup of coffee at all hours of the day or night. I will miss love and the life of the party. I love you all very much. Thanks for sharing him with me. While it was upsetting news to hear of Mr John passing it was not long until I could envision his presence and warmth. Anyone that had the opportunity to get to know him will never forget him. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with him over the past few years and we shared many conversations. I was blessed to be able to call him my friend.
