I met John on numerous family gatherings and attended his wedding. I held his children when they were babies, and though they don´t remember me I have watched them grow up in photos. I remember John easily, because he was unforgettable! He was happy always, hilariously funny, had a magnetic energy, made everyone in the room feel welcome and important and was inclusive to all. He easily could have ignored me as a cousin of his wife who only came around once a year, but he made an effort to make sure he smiled and knew my name. He was always present in the moment he was in, never acting like he was bored or would rather be doing something else. When you talked to John you felt important because he made sure you knew you were important. He was glad you were there, no matter who you were. Maybe this is why John got called home early, because he had already learned and practiced love in action to all people (and animals). He will be remembered and I´m very sad to know that the world doesn´t have this bright light here anymore, but grateful knowing that his legacy carries on through his children. John can teach us all something in his memory: to be present, to laugh, to not be hesitant to live life to the fullest, to express joy openly, to make others feel welcome, and to show everyone that they matter. I will always remember John Wallace.

Dear Family of John, I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and John today. John was a very special member of our Section E while we were in business school. I will remember John as so bright and capable, but it was his generosity, humor, and kindness that has had the biggest impact. We are all so sad that he had to go leave us far too early. Hope you will be comforted in knowing he will be missed. Thank you for sharing John with us - Brenda (Mounzer) Curiel
