Family-Placed Death Notice
DENTON, Jonathan Funeral services for Dr. Jonathan Ray Denton 49, of Ellenwood, GA., will be held Monday, 11AM, April 11, 2011 at The St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 2560 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA. Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. Dr. Jonathan Ray Denton, was born on July 10, 1961, in Fairfield, CA. He was the son of Horace and Anne Denton of East Point, GA. Dr. Jonathan Denton attended Westwood High School in Atlanta, GA. He attended Tuskegee Institute and he served in the U.S. Army in 1989, stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. Upon moving to Atlanta, GA he began practicing as a Veterinarian. Dr. Jonathan Denton is survived by his beloved wife Felisha Denton, and his two adored children, Jonathan Denton, Jr. (Countess) and Brittany Denton. One grandchild, William Sims Denton; two brothers Mr. Michael (Deborah) Denton and Mr. Tony Denton; two sisters Mrs. Patricia (Dr. Izear) Feagins and Ms. Louise Denton; and a host of family & friends. Visitation will be held TODAY from 12-8pm with family hour 6-8pm at Gregory B. Levett Funeral Home, 4743 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA 30034. To my Cousins Felisha and Brittany, though many years have passed and not knowing Jonathan the way I could have know him, I am sorry I did not get to know Jonathan better in ways cousins should have known one another. I can say for sure he had to be a great husband, father and a great friend to many who circled him. I am truly sorry; I was not able to be with you and Brittany in such trying times to give you both my bear hugs, and kisses. I will do that when I see you soon.. Jonathan is off to his home going, and someday home we will be too, then we can get better acquainted in heaven. May your fond memories keep you; allow his peaceful spirits keep you in good company.

My heartfelt sympathy is extended to the Denton family. Jonathan and I, along with three additional classmates, spent many long study hours together in veterinary school. We supported each other and in fact, were like family. I will always remember Jonathan's dedication and free loving spirit.
God bless Jonathan's family and may you find strength in knowing how much Jonathan was loved.

Jonathan was a great friend, always had a smile on his family and was always a welcome sight when he walked or jogged down the hill for track practice. We will miss him a great deal.

I got a chance to work Dr. Denton back in 2007 when he became employed at Banfield in East Point. Not only was he a wonderful doctor, but a wonderful man-always fun to work with and he always made me laugh. He wasn't the type of doctor to wear his title on his sleeve. He always helped the nurses and was a great team player. To the Dentons, I am so sorry for your loss. I was not able to attend the funeral as I was having surgery, but many condolences to you and yours. Dr. Denton will truly be missed. It was truly and honor and a privilege to meet him. God is getting a great man up in heaven!

To the Denton Family, I extend my deepest sympathies. Dr. Denton was one of my mentors and taught me a great deal about practicing and business ownership. He gave me my first veterinary job at Riverdale Animal Hospital when I was in undergrad at Tuskegee. I was bound and determined to get into TUSVM and with Dr. Denton's guidance I made it through to become the proud Tuskegee Vet I am today. He will be truly missed and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to be mentored by and to work with this great man.

Jonathan was an amazing cousin. I remember when i was alot younger that he tried his hardest to get me on the biggest roller coater at 6 flags i scream like a baby!
He was an amazing man, father and husband. he will be sadly missed and always in our hearts and thoughts.
