TEEMS, Juanita Juanita Pierce Teems, of Loganville, Georgia died Saturday, 14 May 2016 just shy of her 89th birthday. Born Juanita Katherine Pierce on 22 May 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the only child of Raymond and Kate Pierce of Atlanta. Juanita married John David "J. D." Teems in 1944 and remained happily married until J. D.'s death in 2001, a beloved union of 56 years that produced two sons, five grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and a treasury of fond memories. Juanita and J. D. shared a Christian faith that had its roots at Grant Park Christian Church in Atlanta, and later Mount Carmel Christian Church in Decatur. Juanita attended Girl's High School (grad. 1944). She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Mrs. Teems retired in the early nineties from the Dekalb County School System where she was an administrative assistant. She also worked in the Atlanta Public School System and Orange County Schools (FL). Juanita is survived by her sons Ray (wife, Becky) of Grayson, Georgia, and David (wife, Benita) of Franklin, Tennessee. Grandsons: Jeff (wife, Brandy), Scott (and T. J.), Andy, Adam (and Katie), and Shad (and Robin). Great-grandchildren: Cabe, Worthy, Livsey, Bella, Liz, Carson, Julian, Evie, and Audrey Gray. Funeral service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, 18 May at Tom M. Wages, Snellville Chapel [3705 US-78, Snellville, Georgia 30039]. Visitation between 6-8PM Tuesday 17 May and one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Teems will be buried beside her husband, J. D. at Westview Cemetery [1680 Westview Dr. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310].
