June Loggins Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LOGGINS, June JUNE (BENJAMIN) LOGGINS June (Benjamin) Loggins of Jonesboro, GA passed away on August 31, 2011. June was born on May 3, 1923 in Bellingham, WA. She was the oldest of two children (Brother Keith Benjamin) born to Ida and Milford Benjamin. June was a keen student and avid reader, becoming an elementary school teacher in 1943. After teaching for two years in her home state of Washington, she met Emory Gilbert Loggins, Jr., a dashing soldier stationed nearby at Fort Lewis. After marrying June 3, 1946, the couple moved to East Point, GA where her husband became a U.S. Postman and general handyman to people in need. After the birth of her last child in 1960, she returned to what she loved so much, becoming a Kindergarten teacher and director for the First Baptist Church of East Point GA where she lead their Kindergarten program for 34 years. She then became the librarian for the church. June's marriage was the center of her life for 53 years, until Gilbert's death in June of 1999. Together they had five children (Emory III, Benjamin, Roger, David and Douglas). She was also a dedicated Grandmother to her Seven Grandchildren (Gil, Matt, Emily, Alex, Keith, Tony and Ruby) and three Great-Grandchildren (Lacey, Isabella and Jacob). Mom you were our greatest supporter and inspiration. Funeral services to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 4th at the Chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, East Point. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Funeral Home. Dear Family,
Thank you for all the years June gave to all the children of East Point. She gave them a wonderful start with four and five year programs. I can remember when my youngest cried the first time I left him and by the end of the first week. he did not want to go home. She was a treasure.
