Family-Placed Death Notice
KIMBERLY DIANE McCOLLUM BOYD Mrs. Kimberly Diane McCollum Boyd, age 30, of Acworth, died Monday, September 12, 2005. Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Friday (in state at 11:00 AM) at Northstar Church, 3413 Blue Springs Rd. in Kennesaw with Rev. Bruce Allen officiating and burial at Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Kim was a beloved and caring wife and devoted passionate mother, incredible sister and best friend to many, she brought joy and sunshine to all, Kim was a business owner and attended the University of Georgia and continued her education at Kennesaw State University, she was a 1992 graduate of Wheeler High School. Survivors include husband, Michael Foster Boyd; and children, Nathan Tanner Boyd, Connor Michael Boyd and Chloe Dianna Boyd, all of Acworth; father and step-mother, Ronald and Pam McCollum of Jacksonville, Fla; mother and step-father, Connie Lowe McCollum and Tom Boggess of Acworth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda and Scott Ryder of Acworth, Natalie Ann and Garth Devries of Annapolis, Maryland; brother, Ryan Odell McCollum of Acworth; nieces, Brianna Nicole Ryder, Britney Boyd, Shelby Boyd and Catherine Boyd; nephews, Christian Ryder and Thomas Michael Boyd; many aunts and uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends at Winkehofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday and Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Bank of America, Kimberly Boyd Fund for her children. Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, (770) 422-7299.

I was telling a highschool friend about Kim today and had to look up some information. Mike & family,
I pray for ALL of you daily. I can't forget the day Kim went to heaven because it is the day before Lauren's birthday and I can't forget Kim's birthday because we share that day. I lost my brother 18 years ago and it still hurts. I read all of the wonderful things that people have written that have know Kim... some for a very long time and some for only a short period. It must make all of you feel WONDERFUL. Know that angels are around you and that you have so many people praying for all of you!

I am so, so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful and precious daughter. I, too, lost my child on April 7, 2006, so I know the pain of your heart break much too well. There are just no words that can ever express the deep pain and agony of a mother's grief when her child dies, and time will never heal your broken heart, nor mine, but maybe someday you will find a little comfort knowing Kim is in a good place and God will take care of her for you and you will see her again. I know Kim's spirit is there with you all the time, and she always has her arms wrapped around you. I will remember you in my thoughts and prayers.

I want you to know I thought of you so so many times today with such a heavy heart. I want you to know that I prayed for you...that God would hold you tight today as you have to relive the pain of a year ago today. It brings joy to think of all you have accomplished in Kim's name in one short year! Her legacy truly lives on through you, her family. I am proud to have been Kim's friend, and I pray continuously that as Rhonda's friend, I can somehow even partially fill the void left in her heart. Mike and family - somehow our paths continually crossed from East Cobb to Wheeler High to the theater work I did in your home to my business with your Budget store. How I desperately wish it hadn't crossed again at Kim's funeral. My heart still aches for you at the loss of your "angel on earth". We played all-star ball in Blueridge last year. That was the last time I saw Kim's happy personality. I read my Atlanta Magazine yesterday. Your artical is very touching and I loved the photos of the kids and all the pictures on the walls. Chloe's shoes on her dresser brought tears to my eyes.

I did not know Kim, but please know that even people who never met Kim have your family in their prayers. I have stuggled with what words I would write to convey how saddened I was and how truly sorry I am for the loss of Kim...I have yet to find them. There are no words.
I never knew Kim personally, but I went to school with Rhonda. Kim's story has touched my heart greatly. As I read the signatures and expressions here, I know that she was a special person, and have been further touched.

I did not know your beautiful wife, but I have followed her story closely, as we lost our beautiful daughter in law to Breast Cancer on August 27 leaving our son wih a 3 year old daughter. I read the newspaper article tonight about your fight to have legislation and laws/policies changed to prevent such a senseless act like this from occuring again. Please know that our family has been praying for you and your children. Please don't take "no" for an answer in your fight to make a difference. I wanted all of you to know how deeply saddened I was to hear of Kim's tragedy. I remember playing with Rhonda, Kim and Ryan at our family reunions that my Grandmother would put together for the family. Kimberly was a very good childhood friend of my sister Heather. I remember all of the silly things they used to do. Our hearts are broken that such a beautiful life was taken from us at such an early age. Kimberly, we loved you so very much. Our hearts and our prayers will always be with your mom and sister, your loving husband and the 3 beautiful children that were left without their mommy. I know you will always look down upon them and love them eternally.

Dear Boyd Family,
The Bible says to mourn with those who mourn. We share your sorrow today. We will continue to lift you up to heaven and ask the Lord to comfort you and keep you until the day you see your precious Kimberly again. Oh what a homecoming that will be!
