Leo Burrell Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Leo Burrell, age 87 of Buford, died January 29, 2004. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, grew up in East Orange and attended schools there. Mr. Burrell graduated from Drew University in Madison, NJ and Fordham University Law School in New York City. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1941 and served in Europe from 1942 to 1946 with the 63rd Division of the 263rd Combat Engineers. Mr. Burrell practiced law in New Jersey for 42 years and was a member of American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, and Essex County Bar Association. He was active in community affairs and was a member of Cedar Grove Rotary Club and Vernon Twp. Rotary Club for 33 years. Mr. Burrell moved to North Carolina in 1988 and passed the North Carolina Bar in 1990. He was a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Moore County Bar Association, Seven Lakes Area Business Guild and Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes. Survivors include his wife, Mollie Burrell, children, Patricia Baron of Flagstaff, AZ; Judith Watson of Suwanee, GA; and William Burrell of Lawrenceville, NJ. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Rock Springs United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta or a charity of your choice. National Cremation Society. 770-923-2940.
