Lloyd BURNS Obituary

BURNS, Jr., Lloyd Sanford Long time Tucker res-ident, Sanford Burns (89), who was born on September 30, 1926 to Annie Sue and Lloyd Sanford Burns, Sr., died Tuesday, July 12, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker. Sanford left Tucker in his early teens and graduated high school from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. There he fostered life long friendships and support of GMC. He joined the army the day he turned 17 1/2 and was injured in a parachuting accident while a part of the 82nd Airborne. Before taking over the family real estate business, Sanford worked construction and started his own residential construction company. Over the years, he built up his real estate business so that future generations could benefit from his business savvy. Sanford was such a man of his word and honesty that a lot of business deals were sealed with just a handshake. Sanford was a life long member of Tucker First United Methodist Church, where he donated the land for their activities building. Some of his greatest joys in life were family, farming, raising cattle, and following his UGA football team. He is preceded in death by his wife, of 40 years, Katherine Waters Burns and infant daughter, Alice Sue Burns. He is survived by his son Chip Burns (Becky) of Tucker and daughter Milinda Thomas (Terry) of Hiawassee; grandchildren, Bonnie Clear (Todd), Amanda Denson (Matthew), Dean Burns, Scott Thomas (Dina), Julie Lewis (Chris), Blake Thomas (Melissa), Mark Thomas (Brandi), and several great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers a donation to Methodist Children's Home is appreciated. Condolences may be left at www.billheadfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.

My name is Cathy Mehok, I worked for Dr. Mark Gobbel for twenty three years, and I want you to know Mr. Burns one of my very favorite patients. I was so sad to read of his passing. I was very lucky to make friends with a lot of wonderful people.
I know he will be so happy to be with his beautiful wife.
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
