Marcus REESE Obituary

REESE, Marcus L. DECATUR, GA Marcus L. Reese, Co-Founder & Principal for Corporate Environmental Risk Management, LLC (CERM), passed away on November 21, 2017 after a gallant battle with cancer. He was 53 years old. Mr. Reese was born in Mobile, Alabama where he also began his professional career at BCM Engineers, Inc. and later relocated to Los Angeles, California where he served as a staff engineer from 1988 1992. In 1992, he joined EQ Services, Inc. (as subsidiary of Equitable Real Estate Investment Management) as an Environmental Specialist. In 1995, he formed Corporate Environmental Risk Management, LLC (CERM) with his partner and was involved in running the day-to-day operations while providing strategic corporate management and project planning for the firm. Through his leadership, the business has grown into an award-winning engineering and program management firm. Mr. Reese was an avid tennis player and served as a member of the USTA and ALTA Tennis associations. He was also a dedicated and loyal Board Member of the South DeKalb Family YMCA and was committed to expanding opportunities for children in the areas of science and technology. Mr. Reese is survived by his wife of 21 years Arlene; their children, Tayla, Nia-Michelle and Malik; parents Russell and Patricia Reese; sister Darrlyne Reese; and a host of relatives and friends. Homegoing Services will be held at 11:00 AM (Public Viewing from 9:00 AM 11:00 AM) on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church-The House of Hope located at 4650 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA 30034; 404-243-9336. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the South DeKalb Afterschool STEM/STEAM Program. Monetary gifts can be mailed to: South DeKalb Family YMCA at 2565 Snapfinger Road, Decatur, GA 30034, C/O Chrystal Johnson (404-465-9167).
