Margaret George Obituary

Even at 93, it wasn't unusual to find Margaret George getting up in the morning to check her email and respond to family and friends.

The retired Emory University business clerk, who was also an amateur photographer, would also go online to research flowers that interested her and do genealogical research.

While it might be hard for some observers to believe Miss George was so adept at surfing the Web at her age, this was part of her daily routine up until her death a week ago, said her nephew, Frank Jacks of Stone Mountain.

I remember Margaret sitting on the floor and playing blocks with Timothy. She had a real joy and enthusiasm for life, especially when spending time with her nephew. Being a little younger and more spry than her sister "Buffie" Tim's grandmother, she was a bit of a surrogate grandmother more than an aunt. A very special person and loved by many.

Exactly 18 years ago (January 1994) Margaret was the first to greet me at my new job. She came into my cubicle with a Huge stack of mail and her mischievious grin and said "Ready to WORK"!! From that day forward I had the honor to work with such a wonderful person. You will be missed but never forgotten . Martha Shull (Emory University)

Margaret, I treasure the memories of all the love you shared with Timothy. You were a powerful influence in his life and I am so pleased that he was with you as you left this earth. There must have been a smile in your heart even if he could not see it on your face. You are an inspiration to all who knew you. My prayers for comfort are with all your friends and the rest of the family. We will miss you until we meet again.

Aunt Margaret,

You were always such a powerful influence in my life from the day I was born until your last breath. Your passing leaves a hole in my life, but one that is starting to be filled by getting to meet new friends and even new family. Thank you for this lasting gift.

To the George Family:

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you be comforted by God's word, the Bible. James 4:8 encourages; "Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you".

My condolences,
SJB.

I have managed hundreds of people in my career, and no one was like Margaret George. She simply called me "Boss" - from the first time I met her until the last time I saw her. She was the most loyal and dedicated person I ever had the pleasure of working with. If we all had her zest for life, it would be wonderful.
