Dr. Pentecost was our wonderful GYN in Atlanta for 25 years; every time an extra pound creeps onto this frame, I remember the picture on Dr. P's filing cabinet of exactly what 25 pounds of fat looks like!!! My late mother and I left Atlanta in 1996, but never forgot what a great physician and dear friend Dr. Pentecost was. He will be missed. Patricia (1918-2008) and Suanne Brooks

Dr, Pentecost was a truly professional, kind, old fashioned kind of Doctor. I
have not seen him since I was his patient many years ago. I just happened to be thinking of him recently and decided to look up his name on the internet.
I am saddened to know he has passed away. Atlanta has lost a legend of Atlanta's medical world.
My thoughts are with his family. Peace be with you. Merle Evans, Atlanta GA

Dr. Pentecost was one of my favorite physicians to work with at Piedmont. He was kind to me when I started my career at Piedmont on the OB/ GYN floor. He treated the nurses kindly and was always encouraging and supportive. He had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed talking together about my home town, Winder and his connection with County Line. I also worked with him in the Operating Room until his retirement. I have often remembered him through the years. I helped make two quilts during the centennial celebration of Piedmont. One is a photo quilt. I donated a photo of Dr. Pentecost, Dr. Ridley and me posing together Christmas of 1977 on 2 South, Piedmont. That photo is on the quilt hanging in the McRae Auditorium. I also stop and look at his photo in the hallway to admissions along with other Board Chairmen. He was a good man who will be remembered fondly by the many nurses he worked with. God Bless all of you as you grieve.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital owes a special debt to Dr. Pentecost for his role as Chairman of the Board in it's formative first 7 years. He was instrumental to me as medical staff president and the board in creating a culture of excellence that is Piedmont's hallmark. His character helped us to rise above the various turf battles and culture clashes that were inevitable in starting a new hospital. No matter what the dilemma, he was always confident, supportive and insightful. He didn't have any personal interest or gain from our success, but he stuck with us for 7 years. He did it because it was the right thing to do, and because we were Piedmont. These are two things he clearly cared very much about.

Mark was at his prime here at Piedmont when I arrived. He was a generous colleague with his time and experience. His patients adored him as an expert clincian and friend. I will never forget his warm and genuinely friendly smile when we met and shared clinical insights about our patients together. I am happy he is now at peace.

I loved working with Dr Pentecost . He was a true gentleman and an exceptional role model for all of the physicians at Piedmont hospital. His presence will be missed. We named the hospital board room at Fayette after him because of his significant contribution to our healthcare system. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear Pentecost Family:
My sincere sympathy to each of you at the loss of Dr. Pentecost. He was a true southern gentleman and a superior physician. I was privileged to work with and to know him at Piedmont Hospital. I remember him fondly even back to my early student days at The Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing. Dr. Pentecost was an excellent teacher and was always very supportive of the students of the school. He will be remembered and missed by many. May God bless you at this time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Tony Smith

I will miss Uncle Mark's smile - sometimes rascally, always gracious. Somehow, every time I think of him, I see him smiling, laughing, caring, listening, somehow embracing those he loved with a simple look, question or comment. Uncle Mark as a bastion of hope in the too often turbulent seas of childhood, and one my favorite people in the world. I shall miss him dearly
