Mark ROACH Obituary

ROACH, Mark Carlton Mark Carlton Roach, 59, of Alpharetta, Georgia, died February 8, 2014. Born in Fort Hood, TX. on December 4, 1954, Mark was the eldest of 6 children. As part of a military family, Mark lived abroad in Verona, Italy; Kailua, Hawaii; and Ankara, Turkey. As an adult he spent time in Washington, DC, where he graduated from Catholic University and worked for Riggs Bank; Tampa/St Petersburg, FL, where he worked for Florida Federal Bank; and later was employed by Micron Technology in Boise, ID. It was in New Orleans, LA. that he married the love of his life , Linda Underwood, while working as an executive vice-president at Whitney National Bank. As part of the Krewe of Endymion, Mark loved New Orleans and the festivities of Mardi Gras. He was proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Lake Windward Yacht Club in Alpharetta for several years. The joy of Mark's life was his son Reid. In the eyes of his son, Mark was his Rock and Hero. Mark was able to watch Reid grow into a fine young adult. Surviving Mark are his wife Linda Underwood of Alpharetta, GA; his son Reid, currently serving with the US Coast Guard in Charleston, SC; his parents LTC (USA ret) Dick Eggleston Roach and Nan Fussell Roach of Dunwoody, GA; two brothers, Robert H. Roach of Charlottesville, VA, Michael K. Roach of Brookhaven, GA; and sister, Carolyn Roach Busby of Johns Creek, GA. He was predeceased by sister Jenifer and brother Kevin. Mark's life was celebrated with a private memorial mass at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA. Donations may be made either to the United Way or the National Humane Society.
