Family-Placed Death Notice

BLAISDELL, Martin MARTIN BLAISDELL Martin Blaisdell, 18, of Sugar Hill, GA, died on May 29, 2008, after his courageous 10 year battle with brain cancer and most recent bout with leukemia. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 2nd, at Duluth First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 1st, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Martin, a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church, was a junior at North Gwinnett High School and a member of the JROTC at the school. He received a Citizenship Award in 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 and an American Legion Award for Leadership in 2006-2007. He is survived by his parents, Alan B. and Sandra Blaisdell, Jr. of Sugar Hill, GA; brother, Matthew Blaisdell of San Antonio, TX; sister, Christina Blaisdell of Atlanta, GA; maternal grandparents, John and Natalie Fichtner of Duluth, GA; paternal grandparents, Alan B. and Patricia Blaisdell, Sr. of Lawrenceville, GA; uncles and aunts, Randall C. and Sherri Blaisdell of Sugar Hill, GA and Steven H. and Debbie Blaisdell of Jacksonville, FL; and godparents, Keith and Candi Wharton of Moon Township, PA. My prayers are with you all. Martin's legacy lives on as we should live life to our full potential and never take anything for granted. I am privilaged to have gotten to know him as he visited the NGHS clinic - God bless you all - I'll never forget his jokes he loved telling the other students, his love for coca-cola and the clinic saltines!!
