Family-Placed Death Notice

LASALLE, Mary G. Mrs. Mary Garvey LaSalle, 91, a native Atlantan died Sunday, January 2, 2011. Mrs. LaSalle was a graduate of Girls High, worked as a commercial artist and worked at Bell Bomber during WWII. She was married to the late Colonel Harry S. LaSalle, USAF and they lived all over the U. S. before retiring to Beaufort, South Carolina. Mrs. LaSalle moved to Tucker in 1983 after her husband's death to be near her family. She was a talented artist and an avid golfer who will be remembered for her laughter, and quick wit. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Major Stephen J. LaSalle USAF retired and Pam LaSalle of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Tommy McCollum of Lilburn; granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband, Justin Harbeson; great-granddaughter, Avery Kathryn Harbeson; sister, Betty Guyer; brother, Paul Garvey, Sr.; sister-in-law, Lucy Garvey; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5th at two o'clock at the Chapel of Briarlake Baptist Church. She will lie in repose from one o'clock until the hour of service. Reverend Larry Sullivan will officiate. Interment will follow Friday, January 7th at two o'clock at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Golden Living Center Briarwood Activities Program, 3888 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Friends are invited to visit with the family Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock at A. S. Turner & Sons.
