SKOWRONSKI, Michael MICHAEL J. SKOWRONSKI Michael J. Skowronski, 68, Marietta, GA, passed away January 1, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Catherine A. Skowronski, Marietta, GA; his four children: Christine Skowronski, Houston, TX; Matthew Skowronski, Ormond Beach, FL; Mark Skowronski, Gainesville, FL; David Skowronski, Cary, NC; his granddaughter Emily Skowronski, Ormond Beach, FL; his brother Peter Skowronski, Ahwahnee, CA; and his sister Veronica Skowronski, Chicago, IL. Mike grew up in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1965 and from the University of Miami with a M.S. in Management Technology in 1995. Mike had a passion for scientific research and produced over 30 patents in the polyurethane foam industry. Mike recently retired from Dow Chemical Company after 15 years of service. His professional accomplishments have been recognized by the US Center for Polyurethane Industry. Mike will be remembered as a devout Catholic, faithful husband, and a loving father. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, 173 Allen Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30327. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.

Mike was a mentor to me for 28 years. He was one of the guys, those of us that worked together and played golf together and talked college football. He was always someone I looked up to for his intelligence, his character, and his friendliness. He didn't smile, he grinned; that boyish grin that says I'm gald to see you! Mike was a great mentor for me when I started in the urethane foam business at Dow in 2005 after a lot of years doing other chemistry. I will very much miss our discussions and sharing dinner with him when I went to the Marietta. I look forward to even more interesting discussions in the presence of Christ as we bask in God's glory.
