Nancy shines in my memory as the most inspiring, kind person - I was so lucky to happen into the Aliae class at Second Ponce de Leon Church several years ago, when I was delivering the class's scrapbook that my late grandmother was putting together at the time of her passing. It was then that I met Nancy and other members of the group, who invited me to sit in with the class. Even though the group was for mostly seniors (I wasn't at the time) Nancy's thoughtful leadership was so insightful, engaging, and honest - I looked forward to it every week - as did even my son! We were not church-going people up to that point. After a few months with the class, Nancy gave me a Bible, designed to be read daily and completed in a year - It took us two years to read through it - every passage with annotation and reflections - a thoughtful gift that I'm sure will continue to help guide us for the rest of our lives. Even more inspiring, though, was knowing someone who - in so many true and wonderful ways, exemplified the faith she studied, was patient, compassionate, honest, broadminded, and focused - and able to share a vision of love that applies to all the world. What an uplifting influence Nancy Barker has had on my life - and I would guess - on so many lives. I hope her love and faith will continue to circulate, in kindness and compassion around the world today and for decades to come. Wishing you all well, and comfort in the legacy of love.
