Family-Placed Death Notice
McKNIGHT, Paul, Jr. Mr. Paul R. McKnight, Jr., 83, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 peacefully at home in Senoia surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 11, 1925 in Senoia, GA to the late Paul & Kathleen Fowler McKnight. Mr. Paul was a lifelong resident of Senoia and graduated from the Brantley Institute of Senoia before joining the Army. He served as a First Sergeant under General George S. Patton during WWII. He was active in the community and was a member of the Senoia Lion's Club, the Coweta Cattlemen's Association, and served on the Senoia City Council, the board of directors of Bank of Coweta and Farmers & Merchants Bank, and 31 years on the Coweta County Board of Education. Mr. Paul was a farmer and owned and operated McKnight Gin in Senoia. He was a founding member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. The funeral mass is Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Father Jerome Chavarria officiating. Burial will follow at Senoia City Cemetery. The visitation is Wednesday evening between 6:00 & 8:00 pm at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA. The rosary is Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Pink Posse Breast Cancer, In care of Community Fund of West Georgia, 200 Northside Dr, Carrollton, GA 30117. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mckoon.com He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Totsie Carrasco McKnight of Senoia; children, Ray (Julianne) McKnight of Newnan, Carl (Jill) McKnight of Senoia, Alice (Chris) McKnight Ramsey of Brooks, Margaret McKnight of Senoia, JoAnne (Bill) McKnight Underwood of Senoia, Jim (Alison) McKnight of Senoia; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve) McKnight Alter of Marietta, Monica (Matt) McKnight Lovett of Newnan, Matt, Carly, & Macy McKnight of Senoia, Mallory & Will Underwood of Senoia, Jay McKnight & Brady Barnes of Senoia; great-grandchildren, Bailey & Drew Alter of Marietta, Jett & Mattie Louise Lovett of Newnan. Ray and family,Pat and I sorry for your loss,but as we are taught he is in a place where their is no more pain. Paul and Jimmy Hutchinson are most likely having a blast now.
