CREEL, Richard Albany, Georgia Mr. Richard Creel, 75, of Bradenton, FL and formerly of Albany, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Bradenton, FL. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jennifer Sherling will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the Service Hour at Kimbrell-Stern. Richard was born on August 6, 1942 in Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Vera Davis Carr and a Brother, Robert Creel. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna B. Creel; four sons, Richie Creel (Melinda), Jason Creel (Christi), Scott Creel (Miranda) and Joey Pigott (Marnie); three grandsons; six granddaughters; and his brother, John Creel. Richard graduated Albany High School in 1960. He was Captain of the football team and state champion in 1959. Richard was honored with the key to the City. Richard spent nearly five years with two independent adjusting companies following his graduation from Valdosta State University and then joined Cotton States Mutual Insurance Company to head up their insurance operation in Florida. In 1982 he transferred to the home office when, in addition to continuing his responsibilities for claims in Florida, he assumed additional responsibilities in the administration, claims and reinsurance treaty areas. Richard entered the structured settlement field in 1984, and in 1987 became founder of Comprehensive Settlements, Inc. (which became American Settlement Corporation). He lived with his family in the Atlanta area from 1982 to 2008 and retired to Bradenton, FL in 2008.
