Richard Halladay Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Richard Charles (Rick) Halladay, age 61, passed away at his home in Alpharetta, GA. Rick was born in Chicago, IL to Charles and Alice Halladay. He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1963 where he participated as a state champion in competitive swimming. Rick received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Principia College in Elsah, IL and completed his MBA from the University of Chicago. He later earned his CPA. Rick served as a Lieutenant in the Navy from 1967-1970, serving one year in Viet Nam. Rick was currently working for GS Battery, Inc. (Japan) as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Rick enjoyed birding, karate, and most recently was pursuing the perfect golf game. Rick supported his son, Evan, in Boy Scouts and biking. Rick is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam; his son, Evan, who is currently attending the University of North Carolina State in Raleigh, NC; his son, Garred, daughter-in-law, Destiny; and granddaughter, Ashleigh (age 7) of Vancouver, WA; his sister, Lois Nordwall of Seattle, WA; and his brother, Bill Halladay of Corona del Mar, CA; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins who will greatly miss him. A Memorial service for Rick Halladay will be held at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church located at 9820 Nesbit Ferry Road, (Building A), Alpharetta, GA on July 25, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Rick's name to sent to the Good Samaritan Fund of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church, to the address above.

Pam and Evan, our hearts are heavy for you and the rest of your family. We will always remember Rick for his generous gift of time to scouting and for his volunteer work at Barnwell Elem. School while our boys were young. May God comfort and surround you with his ever loving arms during this time.
