Richard LIEBERMAN Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LIEBERMAN, Richard Dr. Richard L. Lieberman, 76, formerly of Springfield, Mass, Atlanta Georgia and Hilton Head South Carolina, died on September 24, 2013 after a very long illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Doris Lieberman of Springfield Mass. Richard attended Mass. College Of Pharmacy and worked in the Boston area as a pharmacist until he decided to go on to Medical School .He became a Physician then settled in Atlanta Georgia where he had several offices where he saw his patients. He was a well respected physician. Richard had many interests in his lifetime. He was a wizard at restoring old cars, flying planes and hunting. He worked as the Doctor for the Hockey Team in Atlanta, and was the medical help in the pits for car racing meets. His great enjoyment was his Hilton Head Home where the beach and the ocean made him happy. Richard leaves his sister Lynn Rubenstein and her husband Herbert, of West Hartford CT, and beloved and only niece Marla Sari Rubenstein, of West Hartford Ct., cousins Elaine and Ted Zachs and family, Rhoda Bernstein, Irwin Sidrane of Vermont, Morton Sidrane of Ca., Attny. Bob Lieberman of Kansas City and several close friends and colleagues in Atlanta Georgia. Marla is grateful to have had the opportunity to visit with her Uncle Richard in the hospital when she drove to Atlanta this past May. The memories of that visit will be with Marla forever. Our family is grateful to Dr. Joel Alexander of Atlanta, for being a close colleague and long time friend. Richard was never the same after the sudden passing of close friend and caretaker Amy Khair, whose husband Sam Khair stepped up to take over my brother's affairs. Our family thanks Fatima Richmond for being more than just a caregiver and spending quality time taking Richard to his favorite restaurants and car rides. We would like to thank Social Worker Mary Goldberg and medical staff at St.Joseph and Emory Hospital for their dedication treating my brother. We are grateful to Dr. Bryan Hooker and staff at Halcyon Hospice in Atlanta for making Richards last days comfortable and peaceful. It was meaningful in my brother's last hours to have had Dr. Hooker there as he and Richard were medical colleagues in past. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Animal Rescue/ Humane Society to honor my brother's deep love of animals. A private service will be held. I am sorry to hear of Richard's passing I still think back fondly of all the time we spent together in 1960. Lynn, you may remember our visits to Springfield. I so enjoyed your parents. But it sounds like that was a very different life than he lived all his years after.

I am so sorry to hear about Richard,I loved him dearly, he was my mentor and friend, Richard, Amy and I, shared a friendship that lastest a long time. He was kind and the best teacher ever.I went to see him in May and he was so frail and I had to return home, but I knew I would never see him again,I asked him if he and the "Master" were o.k.with each other and he said "Oh Yeah" It broke my heart to leave him, He had lost his spirit with out his Precious angel Amy Corley Khair, may they both rest in peace.I will never be the same with out you both. I will see yall soon!!
