Richard Munro Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Richard H. Munro, 87, of Hilton Head Island, died March 2nd at Life Care Center, Hilton Head. He was born in Hoboken, NJ in 1916 and attended St. Michael's High School in Union City. He was a graduate of New York University Stern School of Business in 1952. Mr. Munro was the Bottler Relations Administrator and Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Coca Cola Export Corporation in New York City. He retired after 39 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II First Army Headquarter, Governor's Island, NY. He was a former member of the Lake Mohawk County Club, Sparta, NJ and our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. More recently, a member of Port Royal Plantation and St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; a son, Richard H. Jr. and daughter-in-law, Maryann of Yardley, PA and their children, Jennifer, Megan and Ryan Patrick and a son Kevin Alan Munro of Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen A. Gradley; father Alexander J. Munro, older brother John J. Munro and twin brother Alexander James Munro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Monday at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin Laughlin officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Francis Columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, MAA Memorial & Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
