Richard STACK Obituary

STACK, Richard Allen Stack, Richard Allen "Dick" August 10, 1928 - December 13, 2016 Richard Stack died December 13, 2016, after many months of battling cancer. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Anthony J. Stack and the late Eleanor M. Wilson Stack. He graduated from John Adams High School and attended Ohio University under the auspices of The Flying Midshipman Program. At OU, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and was on the university wrestling team. From there he went on to flight training in Pensacola, FL, and was awarded his wings and designation as Naval Aviator in April, 1950. As a member of Fighter Squadron 32, Dick flew F4U aircraft in Korea off the aircraft carrier, Leyte. After returning from Korea, he married Jane Allen Sharp from Orlando, FL to whom he was married 64 years and who survives him along with three sons, Richard A. Stack, Jr., William Q, Paul A., and a daughter, Julia S. Stack, as well as his brother, Robert A. Stack of Port Orange, FL. During his years of military service, he was awarded a BS degree from The University States Naval Postgraduate School as well as a Master's degree in Aerospace Operations Management from The University of Southern California. His duty during the Vietnam war was on CincPacFlt Staff in Hawaii. Following 23 years of service to his country, he retired in 1970 as a Commander and continued his work life as a data administrator, working for several different companies. Thirteen years post retirement were spent in NE Georgia, enjoying fly fishing, assembling ship models, and tinkering with his 1965 TR4 sports car. 2006 found him returning to Atlanta where he lived until his death. Interment will take place at the National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA, at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.csog.com.

Jane Allen and family, I am sorry to find the news of Dick here on the internet. My condolences to you and your family. I now know why I did not hear from you this past Christmas. Please know I think of you often and hope you and your family are still in the Atlanta area. If you or one of your children read this please let me know where you are.
