Family-Placed Death Notice

HONEYCUTT, Robert Henson Robert Henson Honeycutt, 88, of Rossville passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Temple, he served in World War II in the Army Air Corp where he was taken as a POW on the German death march of 800 miles in 86 days. Upon his release he visited the birthplace of Jesus which had an impact on his life. He was the founder of the Veteran of All Wars Museum and was honored as the Walker County Citizen of the Year in 2010. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wesley, Ed, Harry and W. J. Honeycutt and two sisters, Lillie Burkhart and Christine Goins. Survivors include his wife of 42 years Hazel Honeycutt, two children, Robin Cox and Eugene Honeycutt, three step-children, Clarence Boyd, Jr., Barbara Crosby and Charles Boyd, two brothers, Raymond Honeycutt and Milton Honeycutt, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. David Sampson officiating. Burial will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12 noon until funeral time. Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
