Robert Nealy Obituary

NEALY, Dr. Robert

Dr. Robert John Nealy, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Lakes at Gainesville. He was born to the late Louis and Dorothy "Law" Nealy on June 16, 1934 in Monticello, New York.

Dr. Nealy graduated from Emory Medical School with a doctorate in medicine. Once he completed his residency, he joined the US Army Medical Corps, where he received the Meritorious service Commendation Medal for taking the first medical team into Vietnam. After being discharged, as a captain from his duties in the army, he practiced medicine at Mease Hospital in Dunedin, Florida. In 1987 he relocated to Gainesville, GA where he practiced medicine until he retired.

Dr. Nealy was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nancy Gonzales.

He is survived by wife, Dallis Nealy, of Gainesville, GA; children, Robert Jr. and Sally Nealy, of Blairsville, GA, Julie Nealy, of Auburn, GA, Victor and Glizell Nealy, of Comer, GA; grandchildren, Cory and Taylor Borgerding, of Flowery Branch, GA, Meranda Nealy, of Comer, GA, Colton Nealy, of Comer, GA; great-grandson, Knox Borgerding, of Flowery Branch, GA; siblings, David and Donna Nealy, of Kingsport, TN and Susan and Jim Martin, of Sarasota, FL.
