STORER, Robert ROBERT MOZIER STORER Robert Mozier Storer, 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord December 1 after a battle with diabetes, cardiovascular, and pulmonary disease. The youngest of 4 sons of George Butler Storer and Mary Dun Perley, Robert was born September 29th 1932 in Bloomfield Hills, MI and moved to Palm City, FL in 1994 from Orlando, FL. Upon graduation from Pomfret School at Pomfret, CT in 1951. He began college but postponed his education to serve our country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He served honorably as an aerial photographer aboard the USS Oriskany which was recently sunk off the coast of Pensacola to form an artificial reef. Upon finishing his tour, he returned to Miami where he attained a degree in Business from the University of Miami. After graduation, he began working in the family business, Storer Broadcasting. He was transferred to Los Angeles where he worked at KGBS and shortly thereafter to Atlanta where he worked at WAGA. In 1966, he left Storer Broadcasting to pursue his passion for filmmaking and cinematography and founded Storer Studios. Bob was ahead of his time creating the first complete sound stage in the Atlanta area with an 80x90 soundstage, recording studio, animation studio, and full post-production services. One of his greatest achievements was the production and direction of "The Great Raft Race," a film that highlighted the famous Chattahoochee River and is credited with influencing Jimmy Carter to make the river a state park. In 1978, Bob moved to South Florida where he continued his love of boating and fishing and once again founded yet another production company, Digital Multi Media Post, in Orlando FL, one of the first Digital post production facilities in the country, where he edited numerous feature films. In addition, he created Ultrascope international, Adventure Dome, a 180 degree 70 mm theater where he featured films he produced and directed using state of the art cameras, photography techniques, and sound equipment. Always a visionary, Bob's work as a cinematographer, director, editor, and producer laid the ground work for many of the technically advanced films seen today. However, his kind, caring, and generous spirit are what he will be remembered for most. He launched the careers of many in the film industry and everyone who knew him loved him. In addition to being a great filmmaker, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Marie, his three sons Bear Storer/Goldsmith, his wife Jo Jennifer, John Scott and his wife, Tommie, and Robert Andrew, his two grandchildren John Daniel and Mary Scott, and his stepson Mark Hamlin. His brothers George Jr., James, and Peter predeceased him. Services will be private.
