Ronald Smith Obituary
Ronald Lee Smith, age 74, devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at his home in McDonough, GA, surrounded by his family. He was born in Atlanta, GA to the late James W. Smith and Gwynelle E. Smith.
A graduate of Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, he was employed with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services( CMS) in Atlanta for over 30 years; he retired in 2011. His love of hunting, especially for wild turkeys, will always be remembered by many. He was a lifetime member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and formerly the Vice President (1980-1983) and President (1983-1984) of the Georgia Chapter.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy C. Smith of McDonough, GA; son and daughter, Joshua L. Smith of Atlanta, and Jennifer C. Smith of McDonough; grandchildren, Kalli L. Peek, and Micah L. Peek of McDonough; and a younger brother, Gerald A. Smith of Douglasville, GA.
The family will receive friends at Sylvain Funeral Home at 2752 GA-42 in McDonough, GA, 30253 on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 1 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Atlanta in his honor.

I worked for Ron for a couple of years right before he retired. He was very nice and fair and a great boss. I always respected him and he respected his staff. I am sorry that I did not know he was ill. He talked about his great family and wild turkey hunting often. RIP Ron.
