Ross Kapstein Obituary

KAPSTEIN, Ross

Although vaccinated, Ross Michael Kapstein passed away from Covid-19 on August 27, 2021. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17, 1948 to Syd and Irene Kapstein. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jon Kapstein. His childhood years were spent in Roosevelt, NJ. Upon graduation from Roosevelt High School, he moved to Atlanta, GA. Ross graduated from Oglethorpe University with a B.A. degree in education. He earned his Masters and Specialist Degrees in curriculum instruction from Georgia State University. He taught Social Studies for 36 years to middle school and high school students in the inner city of Atlanta. Ross was a dedicated educator and devoted his life to teaching. He was on the cover of " Time Magazine" for his innovative style of teaching economics. He composed and sang " RUN GNP", a rap song to motivate students to learn about supply and demand. He was an avid tennis player and loved playing matches with his son Joshua. He was a talented musician, guitar player, and songwriter. Ross was an accomplished author, historian, and preservationist. Ross was an art collector and dealer with quite the clientele. His travels with his family to Montana and Wyoming brought him great joy. He had many lifelong friends and made many new ones along the way. He loved the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and was their most loyal fan. In his younger years, Ross played fast-modified pitch softball with the "Cadillacs" (a.k.a. Kappy) and they won the Atlanta City Championship in 1980. Ross was a devoted husband to Jackie and a devoted father to his son Joshua. He was a loving brother-in-law to Sherry Shadrach, and uncle to Sheana Kurtz and Amanda Griffin. He was a great uncle to five nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his kind soul and love for his family. Rest in Peace. Services will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 9:30 am at Temple Kol Emeth, 1415 Old Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30062, with a Zoom option. I just found this obtiuary when research C R Williams. I had met Ross at a Show in Ft Worth, Texas in 2017. We ran into him at a number of Shows and talked a few times on the phone.
He was Passoniate about the History of C R Williams, and I am sure that they are both in Heaven telling Stories.

Our Condolences to the Family.

I came across this while researching a 45 record I have. I'm pretty sure this is the same R. Kapstein that produced, sang, and distributed the record I have. I'm not sure if the family has a copy of it, but if not and you would like the one I have please let me know. I'll be happy to give it to his loved ones. Items labeled RK records/Ross M. Kapstein and signed by said person. You can reach me @ [email protected] or @ sevenzerosixsevenfouronethreethreefourtwo...if youd like to pick it up. Seems like he was a wonderful man. My condolences to the family.
Regards,
Eric

I am so sorry for your loss, I had no idea he was even sick. We were buddies for almost 20 years, doing our fleamarket and yard sale thing. We had recently loss our best friend "Jose" and didn´t talk as much as we use to in the last couple years, but still talked every month or so, and when I called to check on him, and his number was disconnected, I knew something was wrong... I googled his name and found this obituary. It really hit me hard, and saddened me so much... I will always remember Ross, and what a great friend he was, he helped me so many times. When I was at my lowest time in life he helped me, and I will never forget him... I miss he so much already, I just want to pick up the phone, and talk to him again... I´m so sorry for your loss, what a good man he was, and I thought of him as a great friend.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family Sherry. Although I never had the pleasure of knowing him I can see he was an amazing nan and touched the lives of so many across so many walks of life. He was certainly a gift on this earth and taken too soon from all who know and love him dearly. A huge loss and I´m so so sorry. Angel watching over you. Mary
