NORTHCUTT, Ruth RUTH ANDERSON NORTHCUTT Ruth Anderson Northcutt, 103 died on Friday, February 8, 2008 after a brief illness. Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, Marietta with Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews, Rev. Sam Storey, Sr. and Rev. Ken Cross officiating. Family Graveside Service will be at the St. James Episcopal Cemetery.Mrs. Northcutt had lived her entire life in Marietta. She was one of six children of George David Anderson and Lena Sessions Anderson, both from prominent local pioneer families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Guy Haynes Northcutt.Mrs. Northcutt, affectionally known as "Miss Ruth" by her many admirers is survived by her son, Guy H. Northcutt, Jr. & his wife, Marvina W. Northcutt and her daughter, Carol N. Worley & her husband Daniel M. Worley. Grandchildren are George Fergus, Browning & Ginny Fergus, Melissa W. & Tim Callahan, Jeannette W. & Bill Casey; Marianne "Bootsie" W. & Fred Bentley and 11 great grandchildren.Throughout her life, "Miss Ruth" gave generously of her time, her talents and her resources to many local civic, religious and educational programs. Some of these include the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta (President 1934), the Laurel Garden Club, the Parent-Teacher Association, the American Red Cross (Gray Lady group), the First United Methodist Church (Sunday school teacher, Altar Guild member, Board of Stewards member, (Missionary Society member) and the Rotary Club of Marietta (Honorary Member).In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Marietta, 56 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA 30064.The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory, Marietta, Georgia.
