I've known Sam since I started dating Melanie in 1980 - he was a great father, father-in-law and an inspiration to us all. He is already greatly missed - Love You, Sam!

What a great man! He was a wonderful father and I have many happy memories of him.
He taught me to love everyone, no matter what their beliefs were, or the color of their skin. He made me who I am today. I will continue on with his love in my heart. I will miss him dearly.

My father Charles had a warm relationship with cousin Sam, and they often lunched together in the building where they both had offices. I'm sorry I will miss the service, but I am thinking about you all today. Hugs to Melanie, Cindy and Steve, and to you Sandra. My deepest condolences, Didi Massell

I rejoice for his life and feel for your loss. For many years I had the opportunity to say Good Day as he entered or he would leave Tower Place. Many of my Nextgen co-workers were not Native Atlantans. I explained my awe of him. Andrew Young did a documentary about Atlanta's Mayor's. My dad campaigned for Mayor Massell. I know how he instituted MARTA and championed minority business opportunities. As Mayor Young once noted - we didn't get here by ourselves. Atlanta is unique and the envy of the world because of Jewish and White leaders that took a stand. To me he is one of many unsung Civil Rights Heroes. I told him this and he was gracious enough to reply to me. What a great giant he was. https://www.facebook.com/nefertiti.jones.50

DAD - Forever I will toast a cheer to you - L´CHAIM!
No complaints and no regrets
I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets
And I have learned that all you give is all you get
So give it all you've got
I had my share, I drank my fill
And even though I'm satisfied,
I'm hungry still
To see what's down another road, beyond a hill
And do it all again
*
So here's to life - And every joy it brings
Here's to life - To dreamers and their dreams
*
Funny how the time just flies
How love can go from warm hellos to sad goodbyes
And leave you with the memories you've memorized
To keep your winters warm
But there's no yes in yesterday
And who knows what tomorrow brings, or takes away
As long as I'm still in the game, I want to play
For laughs, for life, for love
*
So here's to lifeAnd every joy it brings
Here's to life, To dreamers and their dreams
May all your storms be weathered
And all that's good get better
Here's to life
Here's to love
And here's to you

I am so sad that we have lost Sam. I had the honor and privilege of working with him on the Committee for a Better Atlanta. He was a genius who was also great fun. The world is a dimmer place now without this great man!
