Sandy Lynch Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LYNCH, Sandy SANDY LYNCH Sandy Lynch, age 51, of Roswell passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008. Sandy was a kind, loving and talented woman who was taken from us too early after bravely fighting breast cancer for over six years. Sandy was a piano technician by training, one of the few women in the profession. She was recognized nationally for her advanced skills and taught numerous prospective piano tuners across the country on how to learn the craft and become part of the Piano Technicians Guild. In her professional career Sandy was a Piano Technician for the Eastman School of Music, University of Cincinnati, Baldwin Piano, Piano Works and Cooper Music. She also ran her own piano rebuilding and repair business in several of the cities that she lived. Along the way Sandy had the opportunity to tune pianos for several famous musicians and celebrities. Some of her past clients were Elton John, Billy Joel, Toni Braxton and Shawn Mullins. She even tuned the piano of the Jerry Springer Show (twice). Sandy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University with a major in Piano Technology. It was a first of a kind educational program where students learned how to combine the performance arts with technical piano repair. Her senior project was to completely disassemble a grand piano, spend the entire academic year rebuilding and restringing the piano and then give her senior recital on the piano she built. Sandy was also a do it yourself woman in everything from home painting, interior design, landscaping, crafting and floral arrangements. She even dry walled part of a basement. She was a loving mother of a daughter Robin, age fifteen, and a wonderful wife to husband Patrick. Sandy and Patrick renewed their wedding vows in early May of this year, celebrating 25 years together. It was a very special moment for both of them. Sandy had a long one year battle when her breast cancer returned after being in remission for almost five years. Through all of her struggles she was able to keep her spirits, love and sense of humor intact to the very end. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Lynch; daughter, Robin Lynch; mother, June West; father, Lester West; father-in-law John Lynch; mother-in-law, Ester Lynch; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Gouveia and Susan Wells and brothers-in-law, Bill Gouveia, David Wells, John Lynch and Brian Lynch. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 1:00 pm at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Alpharetta, GA 30022. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church immediately following the mass. Contributions on Sandy's behalf can be made to City of Hope via online donation: cityofhope.org/donate. She will be greatly missed. Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076 www.roswellfuneralhome.com
