Sara ALLEN Obituary

ALLEN, Sara Louise Kay Sara Louise Kay Allen, age 91, slipped peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She is survived and will be missed by her four children: Jane Kimzey, Robin Sutton, Richard J. Allen, Jr., and Adair Allen; nine grandchildren, who will forever recall her as "Grandpa"; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Allen, Sr. (Brigadier General, US Army, Retired). Sara was a good wife, loving and supportive; a good mother, nurturing and instructive; a good friend, kind and engaged. She was equally at home at annual Thanksgiving Kay reunions or hosting foreign diplomats with General Allen in Argentina; regardless of the setting, she enhanced it by her presence. She will, in truth, be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kay Community Services Center, 213 Allen Street, Fort Valley, GA 31030. Friends may visit the family at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in the Hospitality Suite of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Memorial service in the main sanctuary will be at 11:00 AM with graveside services immediately following at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. The Reverend Julie Wright will officiate. Arrangements made by Fischer Funeral Care of Chamblee, GA.

In January 1975 I lived for a month in the Allen family home. I was 18 years old. After so many years I have indelible memories of the kindness and love that Richard, Sara and Adair lavished on me. I will always carry them in my heart.
