Schnora Vann Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

Schnora Elizabeth Vann was born on January 5, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the eldest daughter of Sylvester Hendrix and Rose Marie McCorkle Hendrix. Schnora received her education in Brooklyn, New York. In 1962, Schnora was married to Roy Everett and gave birth to her first son Roy Jamil Everett on November 6, 1963. A year later she gave birth to a second son Ray Everett who died as an infant a mere five months later. Embarking on a new journey, Schnora and her son Roy "Jamil" Everett would move to California in 1969. She held a host of prestigious positions and pursued her interest in acting. At the same time, she was grooming herself through education and research to ultimately have her own business as a Geriatric Caregiver. She attended Chaffey College and received her credentials in Gerontology. After graduation Schnora worked tirelessly to get grants and licensing to open her business, now known to many as "Schnora's Happy Home". Her dream was realized in 1996 when the doors opened to her first home. Her place of business is now well recognized throughout the community and many families have had the pleasure of having Schnora care for their loved ones. Schnora and Phillip "Nasir" Vann became friends in 1974 and friends they remained for more than 20 years. In 1997, Schnora would marry the love of her life Phillip "Nasir" Vann. Their marriage was full of love, hard work, prayer, raising their children and grandchildren, exploring the world taking vacations to the Cayman Islands, Aruba, St. Thomas, just to name a few, experiencing new things and helping those who needed them. Together Phillip "Nasir" and Schnora were very successful in life and in love. She leaves to cherish her love and precious memories: her husband, Phillip "Nasir" Vann: her loving father, Sylvester Hendrix: her beloved son Roy "Jamil" Everett: a devoted daughter-in-law Roma Everett: three adoring daughters Lajon Vann, Javelle Vann and Victoria Vann: two brothers, Sylvester Hendrix and Elihew Hendrix: younger sister Debbie Hayward: five grandson's Jamil Everett , Ukem Everett, Michael Vann, Savion Singleton and Keenan Vann: a granddaughter Janelle Everett: sister-in-law June Hendrix and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Phil, we were so saddened to learn of Schnora's passing. The two of you were a wonderful team - fun, loving, compassionate. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love, compassion and tenderness shown to our mother, Eula Canida, during the 9 years she was under your care. May the sweet memories and happy moments you shared with Schnora comfort you during this difficult time and the days ahead.
