Silas Alexander Obituary

Atlanta radio veteran Silas 'SiMan Baby' Alexander has died of pancreatic cancer. He was 58.

The R&B jock and Georgia Radio Hall of Fame inductee in September announced his diagnosis on his birthday on social media.

His wife Sandra and son Silas "Lex" Alexander IV announced the news of his death on his Facebook page this morning.

"We feel at peace knowing he can rest now," they wrote. "Thank you for your love, prayers and support during this difficult time for the family."

Alexander, an Eatonton native whose signature on-air self-descriptive was the emphatic "SiMan Baby!," was on Atlanta radio three decades, including WIGO-AM, V-103, Kiss 104.1, Classic Soul 1025 and most recently Majic 107.5/97.5 until 2018. He also regularly hosted late-night parties at clubs, most recently at Club Bolts in Atlanta off Gresham Road.

From 2018 until last year, Alexander was co-hosting a syndicated show with rap legend Chubb Rock on about a dozen stations in markets like Columbus and Augusta.

My deepest sympathies to Simans' wife Sandra and son Lex. Siman my cousin was a very humbling and friendly man. He loved people and he loved family. He also was very supportive of trying to see and help people in the community to try and better themselves and elevate there lives as for as there careers. He was not selfish. I will never forget how he took the time to let me propose a business investment opportunity to him. I was blessed by that interaction that day, and will never forget his humbleness to people because of this. God Bless you Siman, you were definitely on of the hardest working men on radio, but had a beautiful spirit about yourself while doing that. Now you can rest. God bless your family and may God keep you Sandra and Lex .

I would like to send my deepest sympathy to Sandra, wife, Lex, son (nephew) and Chester, brother. The world lost a Good Man. SiMan was the friendliest, hardest working and caring person you'd ever want to meet. My Brother from another mother and I were roommates for 2.5 years while attending The University of Georgia. He would go do the weather on Channel 41 in Macon on the weekends, work @ Dupont on the weekends, WXAG 1470 radio station in Athens in the evenings during the week while taking a full load of classes. I'm like "roommate you're the hardest working man I know." My Brother you can rest now. Job Well Done!!! If everyone was like SiMan there would be no strife, arguments or confusion. I don't think I ever saw him mad. I'm going to miss you "roommate." RIP My Brother!!!

To the family I just want to tell you how special he was to this community. Always upbeat and a positive attitude even while he dealt with his cancer. I lost my brother to pancreatic cancer in 2011 so I understand your loss but know that SiMan Baby is up there still smiling and looking forward to the day that you all will reunite. May his memory sustain you until you meet again.

Our deepest condolences to the family. My colleagues and I met Siman at Career Day as we all prepared to speak to the youth. Though we all were familiar with his name, it didn´t do justice for the kind person we met serving others. It was a pleasure to meet you and much solace and peace the family.

Silas and Sandra were our neighbors in Savannah´ Park apartments many years ago. We often got together to talk "stuff ". Grill, play cards and drink. Such a wonderful couple. I remember when my Husband died in 1995 how supportive he was. Over the years, I have often thought of them.
Your job is done.
You finished strong. R.I.P.

I met Siman when I invited him to career day at Riverdale Middle School where I taught Math. As I journeyed as a teacher to other schools he would always be available for career day and was Emcee at community events I held for the children in homes and my nonprofit. He was always there and supported with no hesitation. I am gonna truly miss him. Job well done my friend. Now rest in peace. - Camille

I cant believe he's gone. I met Si Man back in the day inside of 20 Grand East. We instanly bonded and became friends. He even gave me a tour of the Magic 107.5 Studio in 2012 . He even let me sit in with him while on the air. Not only that being a DJ myself he made me some DJ drops with his voice promoting my name. We have several pictures of us together at the Radio station. Siman was a kind soul. I will miss him dearly. Rest In Pease my brother.
