I saw Tanya on a couple of occasions, I could not have been more impressed with her energy, compassion, and desire to address my issue, she took all of the time necessary, and was not satisfied until the issue was addressed.
I just found out about her passing, I will miss her, as will others I know that saw her,

To Dr. Hagen's children and family,
I had seen Dr. Hagen on 5/11/15 for a follow up appointment. Knowing she was closing one door and opening up another,in her home town, I asked to take a photo of her. Without any hesitation, she said it was to be with the both of us. And she got one of the medical staff to take the pictures. I will treasure those two photos for the rest of my life. It is true that Dr. Hagen had such compassion and gave you all the time you needed and listened - you were 'special'. No Dr. Hagen, you were the 'special one'. She told me that she may down the road look into the "San Diego Chargers" medical staff; but wanted to settle in and be with her two boys. I just happened to come across her email address she wrote down on a piece of paper, did a Google and this is how I found out about her passing. I am so very sorry for your loss of such a remarkable woman, human being who touched all of us in our own ways and needs. I had so much confidence in her expertise through the years that I was her patient since 2004. Dr. Hagen's accomplishments are finished on this earth; but God definitely has something else for her for Him, but for an eternity...

I am devastated by this news...she cared for all 4 of my kids and kept them healthy. I'm so glad I for to see her and give her my poem before we left for vacation! Thank you Tanya for being you! Hugs and prayers to her boys and family! Rest with God you beautiful angel!

Family, friends, patients and colleagues of Dr. Hagen all knew her differently, but these things I am certain were experienced and shared by all. Dr. Hagen was more than special, she was both exceptional and extraordinary. Her bright intellect and shimmering personality combined into an energy that instantly filled a room. She was possessed of a unique capacity for connecting with people. Her amazing competence and confidence were perfectly balanced with an abundance of compassion. One of her gifts was the ability to make everyone feel good and hopeful and special. She is and will be terribly missed by many aching hearts. May the newest twinkling star shine on them all.

Dr Hagen was my doctor for 10 years. She was a wonderful healer who listened carefully, never seemed to be in a hurry, and was invested in my care. I believe that Dr. Hagen treated me as she would want a physician to treat someone she loved--what more could a patient ask for? I grieve for her loss to the medical community but most of all for her sons and the rest of her family. Dr. Hagen touched my life and my heart. I will miss her caring, compassion and kindness. Her sons and all of her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Tanya was wonderful with my daughter - warm compassionate so full of life and energy and support that she passed right on to my daughter. I can only grieve for her and her sons

Dr. Hagen was the most caring, compassionate, and skilled physician I have ever had. She had an amazing way of making you feel like you were very special and her only patient. I was so sad she was leaving Pittsburgh but felt if I needed her she would help me. I am devistated on hearing the news of her death. My heartfelt sympathy to her family. Such a loss for her sons. May her memory be a blessing.

My name is Antonio Grimaldi, I was an exchange student from Spain at Coronado High, 87 class, I stayed with the Pate-Vetter Family during that school year.
I just found out about Tanya passing away. I have many memories about that time almost 30 years later and she is in most of them. There are no words about how sad I feel, so I could not imagine how his relatives and closest friends would feel right now. I just want to send my best wishes for them and the promise that she will never be forgotten.
Tonight I will look my yearbook and read again her words.

I was a patient of Dr. Hagen's for years. I thought I was devastated when I heard she was moving to California. Now I am reading she passed away. I am so sorry for her families loss.

Tanya was an intern when I was a third year student at Pitt Med; I did my internal medicine rotation at the VA on her team. I will never forget her enthusiasm and kindness and great teaching. Pittsburgh lost a great doctor. Prayers for your family especially her 2 sweet boys.

Tanya was one of those unique people who could light up a room. She was so full of life and did everything at 110 %. In addition to being a devoted mother, she had so many other "kids" - athletes at local colleges and universities who she treated as if they were her own children.
