Family-Placed Death Notice

AIOLA, Thomas THOMAS WILLIAM AIOLA Thomas William Aiola, 86, passed away on March 30, 2013, after a short illness. He was born On October 25, 1926 in Meadville, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, his parents Sam and Ruth Aiola and a sister, Virginia Aiola Hopton. Tom graduated from Marist School High School and then enlisted in the Army serving in the Pacific theater during World War II. Upon his discharge he entered Oglethorpe University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. After graduation Tom began his long and successful career in the beverage industry, working for NuGrape, Vernors, Carling Brewery, Delmonte, and the Coca Cola Company from which he retired, an Executive Vice President. He then began a successful consulting career specializing in good manufacturing practices. His consulting afforded Tom the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa. Tom, a lifelong Catholic, was devoted to his Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, rose to the Fourth Degree, and served as Grand Knight for his Council. He is survived by his brother, Robert Aiola, of Powder Springs, Georgia, his sisters Mary Ann Moss of Centennial, Colorado, and, Susan Hudson of Alpharetta. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tom's good nature, sincerity, deep religious beliefs and appreciation for life will be missed by his family and all that had the good fortune to know him. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on April 4 at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception and then interment at the National Cemetery with full Military Honors. The Aiola family and my family, the Aiola & Henry family were good friends. I grew up with Virginia, Tom, and Bob. Dated Tom and he and I were godparents to hia sister Virginia's first baby.

Tom was a great guy. He truly cared for others. I will never forget him or his genuine love for his family, friends, church and the KoC he so proudly supported. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Aiola Family. May you find solace in knowing he made a positive difference in this world.
