William Bailey Obituary
Douglas "Bill"
William "Bill" Douglas Bailey Jr. passed away January 7, 2026, in Decatur, Georgia. Born April 27, 1931, in Miami, Florida, Bill served in the Coast Guard. He then earned a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University and founded Southmark Re-cording. Among his clients were the Atlanta Symphony; Georgia High School All-State choruses, bands, orchestras; and church choirs. He later became an Enrolled Agent (tax preparer) and helped found the first chapter of enrolled agents in Georgia, in which he served as treasurer and president. He enjoyed tax work, but his first love was flying. He built an RV-6 airplane and flew both, in Georgia and out of state. Survivors include his wife, Neva Corbin; sister, Sandra DeFoor (Bob); son, Robert Bailey (Cindy); daughter, Laura Bailey Hosford; daughter, Victoria McCarthy (Kevin); five grandchildren: Ben Bailey, Sean McCarthy, Kayla McCarthy, Meaghan McCarthy, Jessica Hosford; and two great-grandsons, Rowan Bailey and Finnigan Chandler. A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, in Atlanta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mayo Clinic, Forgotten Paws, or the charity of your choice.

Bill Bailey was one of the few recording producers who recorded High School band and orchestra programs around DeKalb County. I treasure the recordings that he made of Lakeside with their alma mater and fight song album. He also recorded the Great concert album for Henderson High School back in 1974 which was recorded at Symphony Hall in Atlanta. I went to school with his daughter Laura who was in my homeroom and was also a flutist in the band
